Rice and Breads: Khichdi
Serves: 2
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rice
- 1 cup masoor or moong daal /
lentil
- ½ onion chopped
- 2-3 cloves of garlic freshly
pounded
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2-3 green chillies sliced along
the length
- 1 teaspoon ghee
- Frozen green peas (optional)
- Salt to taste
- One pinch turmeric
Method:
- In a deep pan, wash rice and daal.
- Put the pan on the stove and add
500 gm boiled water.
- Add onion, garlic, chillies, cumin
seeds, salt, turmeric and green peas.
- Stir and leave it to cook till
both rice and daal are soft.
- Mix ghee in thoroughly.
- Serve hot.
